Protocols for Predictable Aesthetic Dental Restorations

Protocols for Predictable Aesthetic Dental Restorations PDF Download Ebook. Irfan Ahmad focuses on the principles of aesthetic work across the dentist's repertoire, rather than concentrating on one particular technique. For this reason, it will add value to the range of daily restorative work in the dental surgery.

The author describes a 'chronological clinical journey', starting with clinical assessment and treatment planning, including choice of ceramic system and colour and shade analysis. He then devotes individual chapters to successive stages in treatment to provide a crown for a tooth, such as core placement, tooth preparation, temporary restoration, impression taking, try-in and cementation. Very little attention is devoted to registration methods.

Although the liberal use of photographs makes this book extremely attractive to look at, the choice of illustrative cases is curious in places. Chapter 6, for instance, shows a case with widely spaced upper anterior teeth, where a reverse overjet is created orthodontically before crowns are constructed to close residual spacing. No clinical picture of the final result is presented, but judging by the illustrations which are provided, the width/length ratio of the final restorations does not appear particularly favorable.

Aesthetic dentistry has become increasingly important to dentists and their patients. This book is designed as a springboard to assist clinicians in developing the aesthetic potential of restorative procedures. The book marries evidence-based principles with handy hints and tips the author has distilled from years of clinical experience. This combination of scientific principles with 'real world' practice will boost the confidence of budding aesthetic practitioners and clinical dental students.

This text allows readers to rapidly acquire an understanding of the common and important acute and chronic diseases that dentists and dental students may encounter in their patients.

Human Diseases is now often a mandatory component of training for dentists, and forms an important part in many undergraduate and professional exams. However, the amount of material to master can be overwhelming for students who need a manageable overview before they can apply the details learnt.

The authors have significant experience in teaching the topics, and the text is carefully presented to highlight the key facts a reader should take from each chapter. An essential revision guide for a range of audiences, this book will also be invaluable to medical students, house officers, GPs, nurses, and paramedics.

Such an addition would lead the interested reader to appropriate literature. The material does include sections on essential conditions that a dental student would be expected to know, such as anaphylaxis, bleeding tendency, endocarditis, HIV and neck swelling. However, some sections have less relevance, for example gallstones, hernias, prostate cancer and urinary tract infections.

The material, which includes 50 topic-based sections, is presented in alphabetical order starting with subjects such as acute abdominal pain, allergy and anaemia through to stroke, trauma and upper respiratory tract infections. Each topic has been allocated four or five pages to cover basic features of presentation, investigation or management. Overall, this book provides a useful revision tool for undergraduate and postgraduate dental students.
